Gold

Throughout history, few have been able to resist gold’s warm and luxurious glow.

Alongside copper and silver, gold has historically been used for coinage as well as for jewellery and a number of other applications.

The more recent price of gold has meant that one is unlikely to encounter a gold coin, but gold jewellery is still very much an industry standard.

In its pure form, fine or 24kt gold is a very soft, malleable, and ductile metal, so much so that it is often considered too soft for wearing as jewellery, especially in rings and bracelets.

For that reason gold is most often alloyed with other metals which give it strength and hardness without compromising its desirability.

Malki Studio uses gold of various levels of purity to make or incorporate into a number of our pieces.

We certainly value gold as a material of luxury but also as a material of historical value and symbolic connotations with royalty, purity, beauty, and spirituality.
