Evil Eye Containment Vessel
Art Object: hand built white raku clay, recycled and responsibly sourced sterling silver, patinated copper base, lab made spinel, acrylic paint, and concrete sealer.
The Containment Vessel series is a suite of small hand built ceramic vessels, produced primarily in the ancient form of amphorae (traditionally used to store wine, oil, or other fluids considered precious in the ancient world). They each serve a mystical or magical purpose aimed at protecting their owner through the power of containment. While some are sealed with specific intent, other Containment Vessels, such as this one, remain unsealed as a means of allowing the owner to determine the focus of the vessel’s protection.
The Evil Eye Containment Vessel is one of two produced with this motif, the other being in a private collection. Their purpose is to offer spiritual or psychological protection within as well as outside of the vessel, with the painted Evil Eyes serving as a warding that symbolically banishes the glare of hateful eyes. Malki Studio invites the buyer of this vessel to symbolically (or literally) seal within it something precious, for example a photograph of loved ones or oneself, but it can be anything. May it be a source of comfort, an act of self-care, or a wish to put out into the world and have manifest in the tangible form of the ceramic vessel.
*The vessel comes with a mirrored base as well as the patinated copper base for display.
Dimensions: approximately 6.5cm (height) x 5cm x 5cm (not including copper or mirrored base).
